Don't Be Stuck In Your Past Identity

Your brain is wired from your past experiences.

That means all you did in your past feels familiar to you

The more often you did it, the more familiar it feels.

But familiar does not mean right.

But what is right then? You may ask.

Everyone has their own definition of right and wrong.

Right for you can be wrong for someone else and vice versa.

What matters is that you define your “right” consciously and

not be programmed into someone else’s right.

Awareness is the key word here because you cannot simply

follow your feelings.

A sugary piece of cake does taste well for everyone but

is not good for anyone.

There are things out there (for example sugar) on which our brain

has a very specific reaction to.

This comes from the reptilian brain.

In ancient times, when food war scarce, a piece of cake

could have been the decision maker between

  • you living a couple days more or

  • just die.

The problem here is, our brain did not really change,

that’s why when it sees or tastes something with

  • high sugar,

  • high fats,

which both have high calories and

make sure you are alive for at least a couple more days,

it craves that.

But we live in different times now.

Supply completely flipped around and we more like have too much, than too less.

Now a piece of cake is harmful for you.

To come back to the original idea now,

we all had no control over how we were raised in the first couple of years of our lives.

Which means, we could not consciously decide which identity we got program into.

Most never get the chance and see this fact that,

  • you can change your identity.

  • you can change your habitual bahaviours.

  • you can change yourself.

But it requires awareness, wisdom & consistent action.

Most people never get out of their programmed bahaviour.

I don’t want to overgeneralize poeple here, there are many different ones ofc!

But most of all the people are living the same year over and over again,

  • while hoping for “better times”

  • while visualizing their “dream life”

  • while dreaming about a different life.

But at the end of the day,

they never change.

Because they are stuck in their identity.

If you have the feeling of being raised in an enfironment which did not set you up for success, you can change that.

  1. change your habits

  2. change your self image

  3. change your behaviour

  4. change your life

but don’t be stuck in your past identity.

wish the best,

Hans
